RESIDENTS aged 60 and over in Southern Oxfordshire have the chance to compete in their very own indoor games.

Taking place across four different locations, the Vintage Village Games will see people try team games including croquet, skittles, bowls and curling.

The Vintage Village Games sessions are being organised by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils, as part of their GO Active Gold initiative, which helps people aged 60 and over live more active lifestyles.

Jane Murphy, deputy leader at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: "The Vintage Village Games will bring some favourite indoor activities to people in the heart of our rural communities and is another great example of how GO Active Gold is helping our older residents lead more active lifestyles."

Charlotte Dickson, cabinet member for leisure at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: "These sessions will give people over the age of 60 with a great chance to take part in friendly team competitions and meet others in their area, providing a much needed winter boost for many across the southern Oxfordshire community."

The games, which cost £2 per game, takes place in a number of sessions.

The first is tomorrow at Watchfield Village Hall between 10am to noon, then Monday, November 28 at Steventon Village Hall, 10am to noon and finally Tuesday, December 6 at Great Milton Pavilion, 10am to noon.
