THE Bike Oxford festival is to return for a fourth year, organisers have announced.

After this year's event which saw almost 1,000 riders take part, Bike Oxford will return for on Sunday, May 7.

Entries for the event have now opened and there is a discount for riders who sign up before December 31.

The one-day festival features a choice of 25, 50 or 80-mile routes, starting and finishing at Oxford University Rugby Club.

Launched in 2013, Bike Oxford has grown every year and is backed by the city and county councils, working with the Cowley Road Condors cycling club.

Club president Cheryl Reid said: "It’s brilliant to see Bike Oxford going from strength to strength.

"The event really makes an effort to appeal to a wide range of riders, so it fits perfectly with the friendly ethos of our club. It’s also a great day out."

Riders can choose to support a range of local and national good causes, and this year's event raised £6,500 for Oxford-based hospice Helen and Douglas House.

Entries for the event, organised by Iconic Cycling Events, are available from bikeoxford.co.uk
