A WOMAN in her sixties was punched and robbed of cash while getting into her car in Oxford.

The woman was getting into her silver Ford Mondeo in Townsend Square off Donnington Bridge Road on Friday night when a man wearing a balaclava and dark clothes came up to her and pushed her.

The man, who was white, in his 30s, and about 5ft 9ins, then punched her in the face and demanded money.

She gave him cash and he ran off in the direction of Donnington Bridge Road.

Police said the woman sustained bruising to her face and leg but did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer PC Gareth Luscombe from Oxford Local CID said: "I would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or saw anything unusual in the area at around the time of the incident.

"This robbery thankfully did not result in serious injury to the vicitm however was distressing for her so it is important anyone with information comes forward and speaks to police."
