FIREFIGHTERS helped resuscitate a man who was having a cardiac arrest in Oxford High Street yesterday.
The crew from Slade Park fire station were returning from a call-out at 2.40pm when they were flagged down by a member of public.
Medically-trained firefighters gave the man CPR until an ambulance crew arrived, then helped paramedics get him to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington.
He is now believed to be in a stable condition.
Incident commander Kevin Morgan said: "This incident highlights the range of skills firefighters now have and the importance of good effective early CPR in cardiac arrest patients.
"I would like to thank the members of public for their help and assistance during this incident."
