Diane Gardner, chief executive of Sobell House Hospice Charity on the campaign:
"The care offered at Sobell is recognised as being very good. It provides a place of safety and comfort and reassurance. All of that will continue regardless.
"The new area is designed to suit the needs of dementia patients, that will be easier for them to navigate and - if you have somebody who needs a lot of attention - be easily visible from the nursing station. It makes it safer and more comfortable.
"What we are hoping to do is future-proof the services as there is increased need in terms of people with multiple end of life conditions who need specialist care. We just want to make sure in the future there is enough room for the people that need it and ease the pressure.
"Not everybody will be able to get into the hospice. What we really want to make sure is that the hospice itself deals with those that have really complex and complicated illness. With the hospital project we are making sure that in time all patients dying in the Oxfordshire hospitals have access to good end of life care.
"We are adapting to changing needs so we can continue to do exactly what we are doing here. People are getting older and living with long-term conditions for longer. It's a real treat to be able to have a vision and make it work both for the staff and for the patients."
