THERE is always plenty of drama for youngsters on A-Level results day but for Annalie Greasby success was perhaps even sweeter.
The 18-year-old from Witney emerged with top grades and a place at one of the country's leading law schools yesterday despite being forced to take a year out from school to battle a rare form of bone cancer.
After achieving one A* and two As at Wood Green School, she is set to go to Warwick University to study law and sociology.
She said: "I'm over the moon, it's crazy really."
Annalie was sitting her AS-Level exams when she was first diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that mainly affects teenagers and young adults and develops in growing bones.
The teenager had to take a year out to receive treatment and resit one exam.
She later returned to school and finished her second year, sitting all her A-Level exams, and has been in remission for a year.
"It's a really good feeling," she added.
"This morning has all been a bit surreal."
Carolyn Whiting, the outgoing head of sixth form at Wood Green School, said: "We are all very proud of Annalie. She has done fantastically well."
