LABOUR has launched a probe after a senior city councillor was ejected from Oxford's EU referendum count by police.
Mike Rowley, executive board member for housing, attempted to enter Town Hall, in St Aldates', at about 12.30am on Friday but clashed with security staff when he was refused.
During the disturbance the councillor for Barton and Sandhills shouted "I am an elected member of this council", as colleagues attempted to defuse the situation.
Police then arrived and Mr Rowley was taken outside.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Officers were called following a disturbance at Oxford Town Hall at 12.24am following a disturbance.
"A man was being abusive to people.
"Officers attended the scene and took the man to his home address. No arrests were made."
A spokesman for the Labour Party said: "We are aware of an incident and will be investigating it.''
