ACCLAIMED sculptor Hamish Mackie has installed this striking life and a quarter-sized Andalusian Stallion at stately home Blenheim Palace.
The large bronze sculpture arrived last week in the formal gardens at the visitor attraction in Woodstock and it will be a temporary addition to the gardens for the summer.
Mr Mackie lives and works locally and The Andalusian Stallion is one of six Goodman’s Field Horses, for Berkeley Homes Goodman’s Field development in London.
Work started last year and later this year Mr Mackie will have a solo exhibition in the Mall Galleries in central London.
The stallion and five other horse sculptures represent the culmination of a 20-year working relationship between the sculptor and Simon Allison, of Lockbund Foundry, in Cropredy near Banbury.
Mr Mackie said: "I’m thrilled to have the Andalusian Stallion at Blenheim Palace, in these iconic surroundings.
"It feels very natural to have the work in a place that plays host to so many important horse events and wonderful to know that it will be seen by so many over the summer months."
