There are three sets of elections happening in Oxfordshire today:
- Council elections at Oxford City Council, Cherwell District Council and West Oxfordshire District Council.
- Elections for the office of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley Police.
- Elections for parish and town councils in Oxford, Cherwell and West Oxfordshire.
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm and are usually located in public buildings like schools or local halls.
Oxford residents can search for their nearest polling station here. You must be on the electoral register to vote.
The first result to be announced will be for West Oxfordshire late tonight.
The results of the PCC election will be announced at a count in Abingdon tomorrow. The results for Oxford and Cherwell council elections will also be announced.
Council elections on May 5:
There are elections across all 24 wards of Oxford City Council. Each ward will elect one councillor (so half of the total 48 seats) to serve a four-year term, until May 2020.
Meanwhile, 17 of 49 seats on West Oxfordshire District Council will be up for election, with one seat in each of the 17 wards available.
And all 48 Cherwell District Council seats will be up for election following a change in ward boundaries. Each Ward will have three seats, and the overall number of councillors will reduce from 50 to 48.

Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Police Area:
There is also an election for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for the Thames Valley Police Area, which covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Anyone registered to vote in the Thames Valley, including Oxfordshire, will be eligible to vote in that election.
