A motorcyclist was involved in an accident this morning on Cumnor Hill in Oxford.

Drivers reported seeing the motorcyclist lying at the side of the road near his motorbike, shortly before 9am.

Traffic was able to pass the incident after the motorcyclist was moved to the side of the road.

South Central Ambulance spokesman David Gallagher said the accident happened at the junction with Arnolds Way.

He added: "We were called at 08.39 reporting a collision between a motorbike and a car.

"We sent an officer, an ambulance and the Enhanced Care Response Unit with a doctor on board.

"We took one patient to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

"The injuries are thought to be serious, but not life-threatening."
