A WOMAN has denied lying about being sexually assaulted to hide her flirting with another man from her fiancé.

David Clays and the alleged victim had been sending each other regular texts and Snapchat messages when they went out drinking in September 2014.

Oxford Crown Court heard how when the pair returned to the room she shared with her fiancé at RAF Brize Norton, Clays assaulted the woman twice.

But Claire Fraser, defending, told a jury of four men and eight women that the pair had been flirting in the weeks leading up to the incident.

She said the woman had sent the 34-year-old RAF man a number of Snapchat pictures, which he described as "sexy".

Taking the stand to give evidence yesterday the woman admitted she felt kept on a leash by her fiancé, who did not like her spending time with other men.

Ms Fraser said: "You said you felt he kept you on a leash because he would not let you go out.

"I am going to suggest to you is what happened inside that room between the two of you was with both your consent – that's right isn't it?"

"You didn't push him away or say 'no' at all throughout that evening.

"You don't want or didn't want your partner to find out about your relationship with David."

But the woman denied she had been a willing participant and insisted Clays had assaulted her twice that night.

She added: "If that had happened things would have gone further or I would have gone back to his place."

Clays, who was stationed at Brize Norton, denies two counts of assault by penetration.

The court heard that he had walked the woman home after the night out at the Spotlight bar, then the Beehive in Carterton.

But prosecutor Elisabeth Bussey-Jones said when they got back to the room she shared with her fiancé, Clays pushed her on to the bed and assaulted her.

The trial continues.
