LOST in literary thought, bookworms tackled a mass quiz in the hope of smashing a world record.
One hundred pupils at John Mason School were grilled on stories in the run-up to World Book Day.
Chris Davies, acting deputy headteacher at the Abingdon secondary school, said: "It was really exciting. They got very competitive. We have got every confidence the record will be broken."
Organisers of World Book Day, on March 3, joined forces with Guinness World Records to create the nationwide Bumper Book Quiz.
