THE family of a "much-loved" man who died when part of Didcot power station collapsed have paid trubute to him.
Michael Collings, 53, known locally as Whitby Mick, died on Tuesday this week when Didcot A power station collapsed.
His family released this statement today: "Mike was a much loved husband, father, granddad, son, brother and friend.
"He had a huge enthusiasm for life and will be remembered for his kind and friendly nature. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.
"Thank you to everyone who has sent their condolences and to Coleman & Company and the emergency services for their support.
"We ask that our privacy is respected at this terrible time."
MD of Coleman Demolition Mark Coleman added: "Mick Collings was our colleague and friend. We are devastated. Our hearts go out to his whole family."
The tragedy left five others injured, who were taken to hospital. Three men are still missing.
Today a book of condolence opened at Didcot Civic Hall for the victims of the power station disaster.
