THESE lucky fans may be just three games away from a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Wembley.

Kidlington FC players are daring to dream big after reaching the quarter-final of the FA Vase – the furthest stage they have reached in their history.

The club is also celebrating the end of a £27,500 project to improve its Yarnton Road ground, including new turnstiles and 50 extra seats.

Funding has been raised entirely by the club, with the final improvements expected to be made in the next few weeks.

Club trustee Nick Duval said: “This has been a long-term project, so to stand there and look at it is amazing.

“The whole ground has taken on a new image – it’s really come to life.”

On Saturday the first team take on Bowers and Pitsea FC, based near Basildon, at home in the quarter-final replay.

The teams drew 3-3 in their first clash last weekend.

The competition features both semi-professional and amateur teams from lower down the league pyramid.

Mr Duval added: “I can’t believe we’ve got this far.

“The draw has been kind to us and we are expecting our busiest match of the season on Saturday.”
