KANGAROO meat sounds like something you would eat in the Australian rainforest rather than a pub in Wheatley.
But it seemed staff at the Cricketer's Arms could not stop the rare delicacy flying off the shelves at their annual festival last weekend.
It was part of the pub's Beer and Sausage Festival, which has been held for the past 15 years.
Regular customer Kevin Thompson – known to many as Togsy – was one of those taking advantage of the range of food and drink available.
The Wheatley resident said: "All the food was spot on, it was all good fun."
Other appealing varieties included apricot, pork and brandy, "drunken duck" and Thai pork sausage.
Landlord Stuart Bull said the festival, held from Friday until Sunday, was a major attraction for beer and sausage connoisseurs.
He added: "Lots of local people come down but we have had people from as far afield as Wales and Birmingham.
"The kangaroo sausage was definitely the most popular, it was jumping off the tables."
The pub, in Littleworth, will be holding a similar festival from September 16-18.
