The man killed in a collision with a lorry on the a34 is yet to be identified.

In the early hours of yesterday morning a pedestrian died following a collision with an HGV at around 1am.

It happened on the southbound carriageway between J9 of the M40 and Weston on the Green, near Bletchingdon.

Thames Valley Police said the male pedestrian has not yet been formally idenitified and no arrests have been made.

Investigating officer PC Alan Turnbull of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Bicester said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision itself, or saw a pedestrian near, or on the A34 at Bletchingdon prior to the collision to contact police.

"We are also appealing to the driver of a dark-coloured Audi vehicle, who stopped at the scene following the collision, to come forward as we believe they might have information that can aid our investigation."

The section of the A34 was closed off for nearly six hours following the fatal incident before reopening around 7am.
