We have had to shake off the frustrations of midweek as we prepare for today’s game against fellow promotion contenders Accrington Stanley.

Regardless of the result on Tuesday night, I was pleased with the way the players competed against a side that is well known for being physical and who rely on set-pieces for many of their goals.

I thought our players stood up to them very well and when you break down the opportunities, we had the better chances with Chris Maguire, Kemar Roofe, Jordan Bowery and Liam Sercombe all going close.

The reality is that we lost a game of football due to a poor decision from the referee.

I am usually a firm believer in maintaining my composure on the touchline as I feel that we prepare properly prior to each game so there is only so much you can do as a manager once the players get out onto the pitch.

However, I have to admit that I really saw red on Tuesday night.

I felt all the big decisions went against us and we ended up losing out on points because of it.

I have mentioned many times over the course of the season the importance of moving on quickly and that has never been truer than today as we welcome Accrington to Grenoble Road.

The team have consistently impressed me with the way they have responded to set-backs and I hope this continues today.

It is a credit to everyone that we have got through a busy period of tough games and maintained our place in the top-three.

That said, the result of Tuesday’s game makes today’s even more important.

Accrington are a very dangerous team because they can play without the weight of expectation and this allows them to more freedom than the likes of Plymouth, Portsmouth and ourselves.

They are fourth in the league with two games in hand over the top-three sides so it is a really important opportunity for us to strengthen our position.

As you would expect, after so many games in quick succession, there are a few players who have slight injuries.

It is very disappointing to lose Jake Wright to a hamstring problem, especially as it is likely to see him out of the side for around ten days.

The whole squad is more important than ever and each player will have a big part in what will be a key couple of weeks.

I was impressed with the number of fans who turned out on Tuesday – and their support was invaluable.

There won’t be anywhere near as many making the long trip from Accrington as we had from Northampton so it gives our supporters the chance to, once again, be our 12th man and help us to get the result we are hoping for.
