RESIDENTS at a Blackbird Leys care home got into the groove and threw some shapes at a Valentine's Day tea dance.

The event at Longlands Care Home in Balfour Road saw some 48 older residents as well as staff members, family and friends get "loved up".

The dancers enjoyed a musical trip down memory lane with the help of guest guitarist Paul Gunton, who serenaded those present with love songs old and new.

Activities co-ordinator Angela Lindsay, from Didcot, said: "It was lovely. Music is the only thing that stimulates the whole brain and brings everyone together.

"Paul gave us a 'musical journey' and sang love songs because it was a Valentine's Day event.

"We had a few sherries, and a few people had some beers and shandies. One of our ladies was a bit tipsy."

Staff at Longlands are currently trying to raise upwards of £13,000 for an adapted minibus to get residents out and about.
