A FUNKY monkey went on an extraordinary adventure with young thrill-seekers at an East Oxford theatre.

Emma Boor brought her colourful puppets to life in front of youngsters at Pegasus Theatre on Sunday.

Children between three and seven journeyed into the jungle with puppet Funky Monkey in search for his lost "funkiness".

Divinity Road resident Miss Boor, of Wild Boor Ideas, said: "The whole thing about my business is about giving out joy.

"It's about helping adults to play with their children because it is hard sometimes when you are thinking about the mortgage or coping with all the other things in life.

"None of the shows are of a heavy nature but they all give off ways that you can enjoy life. There's lots of comedy and hopefully, the parents love it as much as the children."

The puppeteer took her audience on a whirlwind adventure using eight puppets and toe-tapping music.

Along the way, youngsters picked up healthy-eating tips after discovering Funky Monkey lost his funk because he ate too much "gunk".

Mother-of-one Miss Boor, who has lived in the city for six years, said she loves bringing smiles to children's faces with her puppets.

She added: "I love making kids laugh. I love seeing them believe in my magic. Puppets are magical."

Miss Boor is next set to entertain her little visitors at the Magdalen Road theatre on April 10 with her show Cinderella Green the Recycling Queen.

She also hosts weekly play sessions during term-time at the theatre between 10am and 10.45am on Thursdays.
