TODAY, as a favour for a friend, my wife went into National Westminster Bank in Abingdon, to pay in a cheque. This was done without hesitation.
My wife then presented a small bank cash bag, containing £10 in 20p coins from granddaughter’s savings tin, and asked if they could be exchanged for a £10 note.
The cashier explained that she was unable to do this, as we do not have a Nat West account.
I cannot repeat my reaction to this. What is the world coming to?
