A FATHER-OF-THREE was jailed for almost three years for fracturing the jaw of his mother’s ex-partner.

Timothy Lee, 36, punched and kicked Anthony Sheared, causing injuries so bad he could not chew solid food for weeks.

Lee, of Oakwood Way, Botley, confronted Mr Sheared after he saw his mother’s car abandoned close to a junction while he was travelling on the bus.

He found her and she explained Mr Sheared had argued with her over a dog.

Lee then cornered and punched Mr Sheared repeatedly, giving his victim a fractured jaw and lacerations to his right ear and chin that required 10 stitches.

Sarah O’Kane, prosecuting at Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday, said: “Mr Sheared was shaken by the attack as it was unprovoked.”

Afterwards, Lee and his mother drove Mr Sheared back to her home where they tried to care for him.

They soon realised he needed to go to hospital, and when questioned about his injuries Mr Sheared said he had fallen down the stairs.

Alex Bull, defending, said: “After the assault Mr Lee was shocked when his mother suggested they leave Mr Sheared at the side of the road.

“Mr Lee said ‘no’ and Mr Sheared was taken back in the car.

“Mr Lee has difficulty with coping in a stressful situation. He boils over and without thinking uses his fists when he should be using his brain.”

Judge Peter Ross said of Mr Sheared: “It was many weeks before he could chew solid food.

“He has suffered from the events of that afternoon in that it made him weary about going out and he has continued to suffer pain from his face.”

Lee admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on March 31, 2015, and was sentenced to 34 months in prison.
