GOOD news for Oxfordshire pensioners. On Monday at 2pm in the council chamber of Oxford Town Hall, a new pensioners group will be launched.
It will be known as the Oxfordshire NPC Group and has evolved from the long-established and highly regarded Oxfordshire Pensioners Action Group, which has joined forces with the largest solely campaigning UK pensioners organisation, the National Pensioners Convention.
The theme of the meeting will be Save Care Now. Our care system has collapsed. Everyone now accepts that health and social care has to be integrated. The flawed care cap has been abandoned and the creation of a National Health and Care plan on the Japanese model funded by insurance is the only alternative.
The principal guest speaker will be Dot Gibson, general secretary of the National Pensioners Convention.
Other contributions will be from Ruth Swift, of Oxfordshire Age UK, and Matt Egan, national care workers officer of Unison.
Light refreshments will be available and all are welcome.
