A CRASH on the A4421 this morning between Bicester and Finmere saw the road entirely blocked by a lorry and two vans.
Crews from Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service and Milton Keynes and Bucks Fire and Rescue Service arrived to find people trapped in the wreckage, at about 6.50am.
A specialist rescue tender from Kidlington was also sent out.
The road at Newton Purcell was completely blocked by a lorry and two vans, with part of the lorry’s load strewn across the road, one injured driver on the roadside and another trapped in the wreckage of his van.
Members of South Central Ambulance Service treated the casualties, along with fire crew members, and released the trapped driver so he could be taken to hospital.
Group manager from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Stuart Garner, who also attended the scene, said: “All those emergency responders from the different services on scene quickly worked in unison in a well-controlled manner to ensure the initial emergency phase was swiftly dealt with to the maximum benefit of those who had unfortunately been injured.
“Once the scene had been made safe and the casualties removed, it was contained as undisturbed as possible so collision investigation officer colleagues from Thames Valley Police could try to establish why the crash occurred.”
