CARE home residents didn’t have to travel far to feel the sand between their toes as a county-wide care provider held its annual fun day.
The seaside-themed event on Wednesday saw the King’s Centre in Osney Mead transformed into a beach setting by the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT).
Nearly 150 residents and staff from the Trust’s 17 Oxfordshire care homes enjoyed a day of classic seaside treats, including hook-a-duck, donkey rides, fish and chips and ice cream.
It was a double celebration for resident Daisy Gain, a resident of Langford View care home in Bicester, who turned 100 on the same day.
She said: “It was a wonderful day. The whole day was enjoyable; I liked the music and the singing.”
Lord Mayor of Oxford Rae Humberstone also spent time with residents and enjoyed the festivities.
OSJCT Oxfordshire assistant operations director Patsy Just said: “We chose the seaside as the theme for this year’s party because for many of our residents it brings back fond memories of childhood holidays."
