THESE were the dramatic scenes on the A34 firefighters tackled a blaze that ripped through a lorry.
A rolling road block was put in place at about 7.30pm on Thursday as smoke billowed across the carriageway from the fire northbound on the A34 near Kidlington. Passerby Steve Kay said: “The first fire appliance quickly got the blaze under control and extinguished it. A further four appliances turned up totalling 25 firefighters.
“The road was closed for about 20 minutes.”
Reports showed traffic backing up past the Peartree Interchange to just before Islip.
The Highways Agency tweeted that the carriageway had been reopened at about 9pm but still reported long delays. It is not known if the driver was hurt.
