THE boss of an East Oxford mental health charity has defended charging visitors to its annual summer festival.
Crowds of people poured into the Elder Stubbs allotments last Saturday[aug15] for Restore’s outdoor extravaganza.
The Manzil way charity invited families across the city to join its Elder Stubbs Festival, which returned to the city for the 24th year.

But Restore CEO Martin Realey said he had noted some concerns about the entrance fees, which saw visitors pay £5, concessions paying £2.50 and children 12 and under free.
He added: “As a local charity we have to cover the overheads to run a festival for 3,000 people – the first aid cover, generators, portable toilets, equipment, table hire and much more. All our staff and volunteers work for free.
“We really appreciate your comments and will ensure in future years that we better display the concession entry fees."
