A HEADINGTON holiday camp has been praised for providing “purposeful experiences” for youngsters.

Ultimate Activity Camps runs its activities at Headington School for 80 youngsters aged between four and 14 during school holidays.

An Ofsted inspector found the camp met legal requirements for early years settings during an assessment on July 30.

In her report, inspector Tracy Bartholomew said: “The leadership team have a secure understanding of safeguarding children.

“All staff receive regular training on child protection, so they understand their responsibility to identify concerns and respond appropriately.

“The leadership team supports staff to promote a healthy lifestyle and safe environment. They ensure staff are aware of the importance of encouraging children to keep hydrated during the camp sessions and that they provide an environment that is clean, safe and suitable for children to explore.”

Ms Bartholomew toured the school, assessed the club’s resources, discussed the camp’s leadership and management and looked at children’s records during her inspection.

She added: “There are robust recruitment procedures to ensure that all persons working with children are suitable to do so. The leadership monitors and supervises the staff team, regularly seeking and continually providing them with training opportunities, to advance their skills and overall practice.

“The leadership team understands how to promote good partnership working with parents and professionals, to help meet children’s needs.”

The camp, which usually runs at the Headington Road school between 8am and 6pm, is led by a team of six staff who run activities including indoor trampolining and swimming.
