A MAN was hit by falling roof tiles as he entered his home in Brasenose Driftway, Oxford, last night.

Emergency services were called at about midnight after  tiles came loose and hit the man’s shoulder.

Fire engines from Oxford and Kidlington attended and made sure the roof was safe.

The man was examined by an ambulance crew but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue group manager Rob MacDougall said: "The young lad entering the house was very unfortunate to be under the tiles as they fell, but it was very lucky that the tile that hit him did not cause any serious harm.

"All the emergency services arrived shortly after the call and quickly recognised that the incident wasn’t as serious as initially thought."
