AN 18-year old man has been convicted of rape following a five-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.
Nathan Oghene, of Abingdon Road, Oxford, was found guilty by a jury on Friday, August 14, of one count of rape.
Thames Valley Police said Mr Oghene was arrested on Sunday, February 22, after he raped a woman in the early hours at a house in the city centre.
He was charged the following day.
Oxford Force CID investigating officer Det Con George Atkinson said: “Nathan Oghene was convicted of rape. It is a really positive result and hopefully will help the victim begin to move on with her life.
“I would like to thank the victim and her family for being so strong throughout the investigation.
“I would also like to thank the witnesses that gave evidence which hugely assisted with the investigation and helped secure this conviction.”
Mr Oghene is due to be sentenced on Thursday, September 10, at Oxford Crown Court.
