FANS of Oxford United were able to see the Milk Cup and new playing kit in Bicester town centre this week.

The club’s new home kit has been designed to mark the 30th anniversary of their Milk Cup triumph.

The two-tone yellow shirt with a retro V-neck and Ox head crest is an updated version of the one worn by Maurice Evans’s men as they beat QPR 3-0 at Wembley in 1986.

Team mascot Olly the Ox showed off the trophy to fans in the market town on Wednesday as part of the club’s takeover in Sheep Street.

Gina Soanes took her U’s-supporting sons Adam, eight, and Samuel, nine, to see the silverware.

She said: “My sons are mad football fans so I took them down to see the cup. They really enjoyed it and got their picture taken with Olly the Ox.”

A fans’ forum was also held on the day at the Littlebury Hotel. U’s spokesman Chris Williams said about 60 supporters attended.
