A CCTV image has been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with a robbery at the Co-op store in Eynsham.

Police said a man entered the store holding what appeared to be a knife concealed in a sock and threatened a member of staff with the weapon at about 6.45pm on July 15.

The employee opened the till and a man emptied the cash from the till drawer into his trousers and a plastic Co-op carrier bag.

Police said the man out of the store onto the High Street then Lombard Street.

Det Con Richard Lewis said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to this incident. A blue car was seen driving the wrong way down Swan Street around this time. Swan Street is one way.

“We have released a CCTV image of a man who we would like to speak to in connection with the offence. If anyone has information about this man then we are keen to hear from you.”

Armed robbers recently targeted supermarkets in three separate attacks, using a meat cleaver, a syringe and a screwdriver to force frightened shopworkers into handing over cash in Milton- under- Wychwood and two Tescos in Witney.

Police said the latest robbery is not linked to those in Witney.
