A RAPIST was told he is an “enormous danger” to women after he was found guilty of attacking two women.

Catalin Horhota, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, four counts of sexual assault, one count of exposure and one count of burglary between September 17 and September 22 last year.

The jury of six men and six women retired just after noon to start deliberating following Judge Peter Ross’ summing up of evidence at Oxford Crown Court, returning the unanimous verdict just after 2.30pm yesterday.

During the five-day trial, jurors heard two women were attacked in a Headington flat between September 18 and September 21, with a third women sexually assaulted in South Park on September 21.

Judge Peter Ross told Horhota the attack on the first victim was “truly horrific” and said he saw the defendant “play acting” during the trial.

He added: “You have been convicted of a set of offences of very great gravity. In my view, on the basis of the evidence before me in the trial, you represent an enormous danger to women.”

Horhota, who refused to give evidence during the trial, wrote “ok” on a piece of paper after the jury passed its verdict and told his interpreter he was also a danger to men.

Judge Ross, who ordered a psychological report to be prepared before sentencing, added: “He seems to have found his tongue at last.

“It’s likely that I will impose a sentence of life imprisonment because of the combination of the gravity of the offences and the surrounding circumstances.”

Horhota, who was remanded in custody, is due to be sentenced at the same court on Friday, October 9.
