FARMERS and punters flocked to Thame to get their hands on more than 30,000 sheep for sale.

The annual Thame Sheep Fair has attracted thousands of people and sheep this week.

The event, organised by Thame Farmers Auction Mart, provided the opportunity to buy from livestock at auction. Thursday saw more than 12,000 sheep up for sale, including nearly 5,000 feeding lambs.

Yesterday, a further 18,000 sheep took to the fields of Thame Show Ground as more punters turned up.

Thame Farmers Auction Mart chairman Peter Surman said: “ The old saying that success breeds success is never truer than this year’s event, for the first time ever we will have penned more than 30,000 head of top quality breeding and feeding sheep.”
