A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries after a crash.

It is thought a car driver, in his twenties, had a medical episode when the collision happened in Swan Lane, Long Hanborough, on Wednesday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene after a silver Mercedes collided with a pedestrian, a garden wall and lamp post.

The pedestrian, a man in his forties, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital. He had a dog with him which was taken to the vet after the incident.

Officers said the driver had been taken to hospital but that a full investigation would take place into what caused the collision.

Nearby resident Richard Corfield saw the crash and said: “I was helped getting the pedestrian to safety by two bin men, who deserve a big mention. The car could have gone up at any minute.

“I thought the car was about to explode and it was imperative to get the pedestrian and his dog away from the scene.”

According to Mr Corfield the Mercedes ended up lying on its driver’s side, with the driver getting out through the passenger door.

Mr Corfield said he believed the pedestrian’s dog was cared for by a resident surgeon at Medivet in Woodstock but later died.

Police said they were joined by both fire and ambulance services at the scene.
