Given that most small children love anything to do with animals or vehicles or both, then The Boy on the Bus is likely to strike a welcome chord.
It simply takes the theme of the familiar song The Wheels on the Bus and applies it to the story of a boy driving a bus and picking up a menagerie of furry and feathered friends along the way.
So with each stop, we have a rendition of the ducks going quack, quack, the cows mooing and the pigs oinking.
Brave parents will be encouraged to sing all the way through which will add to the fun.
The book is delightfully illustrated by Penny Dale and should provide hours of entertainment for the very young.
Quite what appears to be a five-year-old boy is doing driving the bus in the first place is perhaps a little too cynical.
The Boy on the Bus by Penny Dale is published by Walker Books at £10.99.
