CHRIST Church’s iconic dining hall has reopened to visitors and is set to host a major conference in the autumn.
The Great Hall, used as a model for the Hogwarts’ dining room in Harry Potter, has been closed for the past nine months for repairs to its roof.
Rot and structural issues that developed over the past half-century have been dealt with.
A team of craftsmen carried out the work to maintain the building, which was built in 1525 and founded by Cardinal Wolsey.
Dean of Christ Church Martyn Percy said: “I am delighted the hall’s roof has been repaired with such care and attention.
“We look forward to welcoming students, staff and visitors back into this outstanding example of Tudor architectural genius.”
A member of Conference Oxford, the college has long been a key part of the conference facilities in the city.
In September the Great Hall will host the 63rd International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine dinner.
