VISITORS to Rectory Farm in Oxford got into the summer spirit with a day of fruit picking.

Rachael Lang and her four-year-old daughter Daisy Scurr from Headington were among those who got their hands on some strawberries and raspberries at the Stanton St John farm.

Gooseberries, broad beans, blackcurrants and blackberries were also available to pick and anyone who managed to pick four or more punnets was handed a discount.

Daisy said: “I had a really good day and I enjoyed picking the strawberries.”

Ms Lang said: “She really enjoyed herself, we will definitely be going back.

“I had never taken Daisy before, but she had a really good time. We did strawberry picking and she went on the bouncy castle and the slides and we visited the shop.

“It was the first time she had picked fruit.

“I think because she picked it herself she was more inclined to eat it. She had never wanted to eat strawberries before but because she had picked them then she wanted to eat them.”

Rectory Farm is open for fruit picking from 9.30am to 6pm throughout the summer months and opens half-an-hour earlier than normal this coming Tuesday.
