OXFORD’S home-grown wine empire is plucking awards straight off the vine as it prepares to open a second wine cafe in Jericho.
The Oxford Wine Company, founded by grape guru Ted Sandbach, was crowned Regional Wine Merchant of the Year 2015 at last week’s International Wine Challenge nicknamed the ‘Wine Oscars’.
It is the fourth time it has won. Mystery shoppers quizzed staff at the Botley Road store on what wines to have with dishes.
Fine wines expert and marketing man Theo Sloot said: “It is a huge deal. No other awards have the same kudos. The 5,000 people on our mailing list and the public have more confidence in buying from an award-winning merchant.”
