PORTERS at the John Radcliffe Hospital have suspended their strike to allow for further talks with Carillion.

Unison has suspended 48 hours of strike action, which had been due to take place from tomorrow until Thursday.

Oxfordshire Unison Health spokesman Ian Mckendrick said talks between Unison and Carillion had been planned for this week to see if the two parties could come to an agreement.

Porters were set to strike over proposals to reorganise the portering service, which could affect jobs and pay.

Mr Mckendrick added that if talks this week were unsuccessful, the union reserved the right to set dates for future action.
