POLICE have said there are two suspects after the Co-op in High Street, Eynsham was targeted in a robbery on Wednesday night.
At 7.30pm, a man entered the store on High Street brandishing an unidentified object and threatened staff with it.
A “substantial amount” of money was taken, Thames Valley Police said today, although the force would not say exactly how much was taken.
David Hendforth, who lives next to the shop, said: "I went to make supper and I wanted some tomatoes. I went out and tape was across the door of the Co-op.
"I spoke to one of the shop assistants and he said there had been an armed robbery but no one had been hurt."
Charlotte Redman of Thames Valley Police today said it was impossible to identify the weapon because it was covered, but said the robber was able to get away with the cash.
Speaking last night, Inspector Sandy Seakins said it may have been a knife: "We have got no real description, no injuries and no details at the moment of anything stolen."
She said officers are now investigating the robbery and urged witnesses to call police on 101.
The Co-operative declined to comment.
