An elderly man was treated in hospital after being injured in a hit-and-run.

Police said the man, who is from the area and in his 80s, was in Marlborough Street near Budgens when a vehicle reversed into him between 10am and midday on Saturday.

He sustained serious hip and leg injuries and was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he has undergone surgery and was still being treated yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene or report the collision. Thames Valley Police said they want to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.
