Highways England engineers filled in a hole in the road on the A34 before yesterday’s morning rush-hour.
The half-a-metre deep hole closed one lane of the southbound carriageway, between junction nine of the M40 and the B430 at Weston-on-the-Green, after being discovered at 9.50am on Tuesday.
The entire southbound section was closed overnight from 8pm for repairs and was reopened about 5am yesterday.
Highways England spokesman Stuart Miller said: “The entire width of lane one was backfilled with stone and resurfaced.”
