VOLUNTEERS and staff at the Scope charity shop in Summertown are asking people in Oxford to donate anything and everything to their stock this month.

The national charity, which works to improve opportunities for disabled people, is holding its annual Great Donate stock appeal throughout July.

Funds raised through the appeal will support the charity’s work with disabled children, adults and families.

The shop in Banbury Road has already received a flood of visitors since the start of the month. Manager Cherie Cook said: “We are trying to generate all sorts of stock for the shop. We are looking for absolutely everything: clothing, bric-a-brac, CDs and DVDs.

“We are giving stickers to people as they come in with donations, making them feel important and thanking them.”

The Summertown branch is no stranger to creative campaigns. Recently a ‘mile of change’ event saw customers and passersby place their loose change in a line outside the store, and ended up raising a total of £187.

Ms Cook added: “I have been working for Scope for two years now and I have had so much pleasure from it. They have so many events.”

Last year Scope ran an ‘extra cost’ campaign demonstrating how, due to the need for extra support, many aspects of day to day life are more costly for people with disabilities.
