HAVING made Oxford my family’s home for many years, you tend to forget many of its attributes.

Last Saturday my daughter Abigail and I decided to take part in Alice’s Day to celebrate 150th anniversary of the famous children’s novel.

We began our day dressed as Alice at the Story Museum.

Thank you for the free travel from Oxford Stagecoach (as we were dressed as Alice).

The staff and volunteers at the Story Museum were amazing and truly immersed into Alice’s Wonderland.

The actress Fiona Fullerton, who played the lead in the 1972 film Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, was there to cut the cake.

She was happy to pose for pictures and talked to my daughter about her acting career.

After our adventure and a visit to Christ Church for photos we returned home.

In the evening joined by more family members, we returned to Oxford to attend the “Let The Sun Shine” concert by the Oxford Gospel Choir.

My daughter is a member of the choir so we were eager to hear her sing.

What a wonderful evening we all had – the Gospel choir are amazing.

We were made to feel very welcome and one of the choir members, Sarah, managed to get the audience dancing in the aisles and singing along.

We all left the church feeling happy and energised.

So my family and I would like to say a big thank-you to the Oxford Story Museum and the Oxford Gospel Choir for a lovely day out in our home town.
