FIREFIGHTERS tackle a blaze at a flat in Wood Farm last night.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a flat fire on the 14th floor of Foresters Tower, off Wood Farm Road, yesterday at 7.30pm.
Smoke was seen coming out of the flat window with the fire believed to be in the bedroom.
The residents of the flat were in at the time but managed to evacuate after fire and smoke alarms went off.
Six fire engines plus three specialist appliances attended the incident.
Watch manager Matt Dangerfield from Slade Park Fire Station said: “Our crews are well drilled and we have practised procedures for fighting high-rise fires.
“The early warning of the smoke alarm gave the occupants plenty of time to safely escape, and the speed and weight of attack from the Fire Service ensured we were able to quickly extinguish this fire and limit any fire spread."
