A badly worn barbecue hose could have led to an explosion on Saturday, according to firefighters.
The fire service was called to a blaze involving a gas barbecue in Abingdon Road, Standlake, at 10.49am.
The fire was thought to have started from a leak in a degraded hose connected to the gas cylinder.
Two crews from Witney tackled the fire by turning off the gas supply and cooling the cylinder until it was safe.
Watch manager Matt Nind said: “This incident could have led to a much larger fire, and indeed, an explosion.”
