A MUM will run a charity race while pushing her baby daughter in a buggy, in memory of her grandfather.
Zoe Beal will be pulling on her pink running vest to tackle the 5km Race for Life course around Oxford University Parks to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.
The 27-year-old, of Radley, decided to run the race on Sunday, July 12, with her seven-month daughter Daisy-May in memory of her grandfather Reg Beal, who died of oesophageal cancer, aged 88, in 2012.
She said she was also inspired by her 88-year-old grandmother, Doreen Beal,of Jericho, Oxford, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010 but is now in remission following an operation to remove part of the organ.
Miss Beal, a payment processing assistant, said: “It is thanks to research that my nan is still here and I want to do everything I can to help others facing this horrible disease.”
This will be her second Race for Life, after completing her first in 2013. She was unable to compete last year because she was pregnant.
She said: “ My nan is really happy about it, she is really glad I’m doing it again and quite proud of me.
“It’s going to be a challenge because it’s bumpy around the park so it’s going to be interesting with the little one shaking about.”
Cancer Research UK is urging women, including mums with toddlers and babies, to register before the deadline on Friday, July 10.
