THE sun is helping ripen so many strawberries at one Frilford garden centre that it expects to produce three times the amount that will be eaten at Wimbledon.
Millets Farm Centre near Abingdon, which has a farm shop and a garden centre among its facilities, is making the most of the hot weather.
Daren Fisher, events officer for the centre, said: “It’s been so hot this week that I’ve practically seen strawberries growing before my very eyes.
“We have a bumper crop of strawberries and are set to harvest three times the amount that will be consumed at Wimbledon this year .”
Mr Fisher added that Millets had been inundated with visitors, with many families relaxing in the shade.
The centre also has a farm zoo, a wood, a playground and a craft gallery.
