REGARDING your letter published on Wednesday about the story published on Tuesday, ‘Precious Reserve gets a spruce-up’ about the conservation work done by volunteers in the Lye Valley fen, yes Bob Johnson is right.
Tthe orchids featured in the photo with volunteer Marjorie Sachs are indeed common spotted orchids and not marsh helleborines.
Both types of orchids are in flower in the Lye Valley at the moment and were photographed.
Probably there was a mix-up in the attachment of the correct name to the correct photograph.
The marsh helleborines have cream to dark pink flowers.
Both flowers can be seen by booking on the BBOWT walk happening tomorrow.
