NEIGHBOURS were alerted to a fire at a house in East End, North Leigh, last night.
Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to the property shortly after 9pm and sent crews from Eynsham, Woodstock and Rewley Road in Oxford.
Oxfordshire Fire Service area manager Gabby Heycock said the quick actions of the incident commander prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the house or any neighbouring properties.
He said: "The neighbours heard the smoke alarm and called the fire service. We had six firefighters with breathing apparatus dealing with the fire."
He said they would be investigating how it started as the cause wasn't clear.
